1. The monster was huge, with ugly, wrinkle skin. It terrified me.
那個怪物非常的龐大, 皮膚上有難堪的褶皺, 把我嚇壞了。
terrify v. terrified; terrifying; terrifies
使驚恐, 使受驚嚇
terrifying 表示“令人害怕的”, terrified 表示人的心理特征“害怕的”。 尤其要注意它們在修飾名詞的區(qū)別。

另外, 還要注意其短語: “ be terrified of ”表示“害怕……”。
例句:
The thunderstorm terrified the child.

There is no resemblance between the two paintings. 這兩幅油畫沒有想像之處.
6. She looked well and happy but as I kissed her lips, they became pale, as if she were dead.
她看上去健康而快樂, 但是, 當(dāng)我親吻她時, 她雙唇失色, 猶如死人.
“ as if /though” 引起的從句可以用陳述語氣, 也可以用虛擬語氣. 例如:
It looks as if it is going to rain. 看起來好像就要下雨了.
The fish tastes as if it has gone bad. 這魚嘗起來好像愛已經(jīng)變質(zhì)了.
He asked about England as if he were from that country . 他談起英國來好像他就來自那個國家.
