111 Unit5 Literature for Identity 課堂練習(xí) (1) Read the following passage and then answer the questions. Culture Shock Culture shock is the feeling of disorientation(迷失方向) or confusion that can occur when a person leaves a familiar place and moves to an unfamiliar one. People experience culture shock in different degrees. Some people tend to become nervous and naturally tired. They want to sleep a lot and write many letters home. Some may feel frustrated and hostile toward their host country. Some may get excessively angry about minor irritations(惱人的事).Some become depressed, while others are simulated by these new experiences. It is not unusual for them to become very dependent on fellow nations in the new country. All these feelings make it difficult to deal with the residents(居民) of the host country. However, these feelings usually pass, and the person becomes adjusted(調(diào)整,適應(yīng)) to the new environment. Questions: 1.What is culture shock? 2.How do people respond when they experience culture shock? 3.Have you experienced the feeling of culture shock? How do you feel about it? (2) Read the following passage and then have a discussion:what do you know about William Shakespeare and what do you learn from such a great writer? There might never be another figure in literary history as mysterious and powerful as William Shakespeare. He left us a few details about his life and this has led to all kinds of theories and guesses. But his huge collection of works is considered one of the greatest in English literature. Shakespeare was born on or around April 23,1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon,a small town near London as the son of a local official. At only 18 years old,he married and by 20 he was beginning to be known as a successful playwright. He wrote 154 Sonnets(十四行詩),two long narrative poems(敘事詩),and 37 plays before he died from unknown illness on April 23,1611 in Stratford. Shakespeare’s plays fall into three groups:comedies, tragedies and histories. His works are artistic and natural and unique. His famous comedies include “Merchant of Venice”and “Twelfth Night”.And his tragedies are more dramatic and striking.“Hamlet”“King Lear”“Othello”and “Macbeth” are called the Four Great Tragedies. But “Romeo and Juliet” is many people’s favorite Shakespeare tragedy. Discuss the following questions: 1.How much do you know about Alphonse Daudet? 2.Do you like William Shakespeare’s works? 3.What kind of his works do you like best? 111- 1.請仔細(xì)閱讀文檔,確保文檔完整性,對(duì)于不預(yù)覽、不比對(duì)內(nèi)容而直接下載帶來的問題本站不予受理。
