2019-2020年高中英語 Unit4 Helping people around the world Reading教案 牛津譯林版選修6 Ⅰ Analysis of Learners Having learnt English for several years, students now possess the basic abilities of listening, reading and speaking. Therefore, they can finish the designed teaching and learning tasks. After learning the new words, students will have no difficulty understanding the main idea of the learning material. Before class, students have been asked to get some information about the UN from the textbook or the Internet, so they, of course, know something about the UN and the job of a UN Goodwill Ambassador. However, since students are from the countryside, too shy to open their mouths, they need to be encouraged to speak out their own opinions in public. Most importantly, the topic of this unit is helping people around the world, so teaching tasks should go around one of the aims—developing love for others, but students now are mostly only one child, they are too selfish, only care about own feelings and do not like to help others. Pictures, videos, activities and teacher’s infectious words can help build loving atmosphere, which can help students develop love for other. Ⅱ Analysis of Learning Material This is a lesson in Module 6 which is published by Oxford University Press. It’s the fourth unit of this module, called Helping people around the world. This unit is in the last position of this module, which plays an important part and it goes on introducing and developing the theme of understanding. This lesson is the second period of this unit and the title is The UN-bringing everyone closer together. In this part, students are told about the UN and the job of a UN Goodwill Ambassador, then to develop love for others. Ⅲ Teaching Aims: 1. To enable the Ss to have a good understanding of the UN and the job of a Goodwill Ambassador 2. To help the Ss develop abilities of listening, reading and speaking and the reading strategy of understanding a speaker’s attitude 3. To develop students’ love for others Ⅳ Teaching Important & Difficult Points: 1. To help the Ss better understand the UN and the job of a Goodwill Ambassador 2. To guide the Ss to discuss the related topic and express their own ideas in public 3. To lead Ss to volunteer to help others Ⅴ Teaching & Learning Methods 1. During the teaching, task-based teaching method, activity-based teaching method, municative method and encouragement teaching method are to be used. 2. During the learning, group-learning method and activity-based learning method are to be adopted. Ⅵ Teaching Aids The teaching aids used in this lesson are the multi-media puter system, the tape recorder and the blackboard. They are for showing students some pictures, some audio files, some visual files, some topics and reading tasks. From being interested or to learn, to express, the students use English more and more. In the meantime, they bee to know something about The UN and the job of A Goodwill Ambassador. And students also develop their love for others, realizing the importance of helping others around them. Before the class, students are asked to get some information about the UN from books or the net. It’s not only useful to the class, but also make up for the limited knowledge in class. During the class, students are asked to read more and more in order to improve their reading abilities. Meanwhile, they get to know the reading strategy: understanding a speaker’s attitude. Also they are encouraged to open their mouths and take active part in the teaching activities. After class, all students, of course, can understand the passage well and know something about the UN and the job of a Goodwill Ambassador.
