2019年高三英語一輪復習輔導與測試 第1部分 Unit 4 Earthquakes課時訓練4 新人教版必修1 Ⅰ.閱讀理解 A TAPPING(竊聽)phones is probably one of the most mon techniques in spy(諜戰(zhàn))movies. But when it takes place in real life with the worlds top leaders as victims(受害者),it is a story much more thrilling than any film. The drama started when documents(文件)were leaked(泄露)by Edward Snowden, the former CIA employee(雇員)and National Security Agency(NSA) contractor(訂約人).According to The Guardian, the documents revealed that the phone conversations of 35 world leaders were monitored by the NSA. The NSA encourages senior officials in its “customer” departments, such as the White House,to give the NSA their rolodexes(通訊錄).The agency can then add the phones of leading foreign politicians to their target lists. The NSA has also been operating 80 special collection services around the world, according to German magazine Der Spiegel. Needless to say,US President Barack Obama has been busy taking calls from European leaders to talk about these issues. French President Francois Hollande is one such leader. He is plaining about the document showing that US intelligence agencies gathered more than 70 million pieces of data from phone munications in France in just 30 days, according to AFP. Another is German Chancellor Angela Merkel. She angrily called Obama to make sure that her cell phone was not tapped. The White House press secretary Jay Carney said the US “is not monitoring and will not monitor” Merkels munications. But German officials pointed out that the US did not deny monitoring the phone in the past. So why has the US been spying on its allies(盟友)?According to Jeffrey Richelson, author of the book The US Intelligence munity, its because the countries dont have identical(同樣的)interests.“There are very few allies that are so close that theres no point in collecting intelligence,” said Richelson. China has not been spared from US monitoring, either, according to Der Spiegel.US listening posts(監(jiān)聽站)have been built in many cities in China such as Beijing,Shanghai,Chengdu,Hong Kong and Taipei. “Countries like China and Russia, who may fall in the category of an American ‘rival(對手)’,can only imagine the extent(程度)of US tapping,” noted China Daily. Calling cybersecurity(網絡安全)“a matter of sovereignty(主權)”,F(xiàn)oreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said China will take necessary measures to safeguard information security,China Daily reported on Oct 31. 1.Which following is true according to the passage? D.He is neutral about it. 4.What could be the best title for the passage? A.Spy on the world B.Cybersecurity is a matter of sovereignty C.Technigues in spy movies D.The US Intelligence munity B (xx南京高三模擬)Once when I was six years old,I saw an amazing picture in a book called True Stories from Nature about the primeval forest. It was a picture of a boa constrictor (大蟒蛇)in the act of swallowing an animal. In the book it said,“Boa constrictors swallow their prey wholly without chewing it.After that they are not able to move and they sleep through the six months that they need for digestion.” I thought deeply then over the adventures of the jungle. And after some work with a colored pencil,I succeeded in making my first drawing,my Drawing Number One.I showed my work to the grownups and asked them whether the drawing frightened them. But they answered,“Frighten? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat?” My drawing was not a picture of a hat.It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grownups were not able to understand it,I made another drawing.I drew the inside of the boa constrictor so that the grownups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained.Thats my Drawing Number Two. The grownups response this time was to advise me to lay aside my drawings of boa constrictors whether from the inside or the outside and devote myself instead to geography, history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why at the age of six I gave up the dream that I might have been a great painter.I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number One and Drawing Number Two.Grownups never understand anything by themselves and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them. So then I chose another profession and learned to pilot airplanes.I have flown a little over all parts of the world, and it is true that geography has been very useful to me.At a glance,I can distinguish China from Arizona. If one gets lost in the night, such knowledge is valuable. In the course of this life,I have had lots of chances to meet with a great many people. And that hasnt much improved my opinion of them.Whenever I met one of them who seemed to me at all clearsighted,I tried showing him my Drawing Number One which I have always kept.I would try to find out if this was a person of true understanding. But whoever it was,he or she would always say: That is a hat. Then I would never talk to that person about boa constrictors or primeval forests or stars.I would bring myself down to his level.I would talk to him about bridge, golf, politics and neckties. And the grownups would be greatly pleased to have met such an intelligent man. 5.The writer drew his first picture in order to________. A.show the grownups what the book was about B.frighten the grownups trying to enter the forest C.remind himself of the adventures of the jungle D.illustrate a boa constrictors act of digesting an animal 6.How did the writer understand the grownups response to his second drawing? A.He was actually only good at academic study. B.It was a waste of time for him to keep on drawing. C.He had difficulty in municating with the adults. D.He was good at anything but geography. 7.The underlined word “disheartened” in Paragraph 4 could most probably be replaced by “________”. A.discouraged B.dissatisfied C.discriminated D.disturbed 8.Which of the following statements is true? A.The writer could have bee a pilot if encouraged when young. B.The writer finally changed his opinion of grownups. C.The writer has been showing his two pictures to others ever since. D.The writer felt nobody could have really understood him.
