There are two terms in a school year.The first term is from September to January,and the second is from February to June.Most American children begin to go to school when they are five years old.Most students are seventeen or eighteen years old when they finish high school. High school students take only four or five subjects each term.They usually go to the same class every day,and they have homework for every class.After class,they do many interesting things. After high school,many students go to college. They can go to a small one or a large one.They usually have to pay a lot of money.So many college students work after class to get the money for their studies. High School Courses In American high school,most students take English,science,maths and history. These are basic courses and each course is as useful as the others.In English class, the students study grammar and read famous literature.In science class,they study biology,chemistry or physics.History is more interesting to some students because they learn about important events and places in the United States.Students take other courses,too.These are electives.Some of them are music,home economics and puter science.Students dont have to take all of these courses.Some study music because they feel it more enjoyable.Some study puter science because they think it is more practical.In each class,teachers give students exams.Some exams are difficult than others,but a good student can always do well. Please answer the following questions: 1.How old are the high school graduates in the U.S.? 2.Why do the students work after class? 3.What are the differences in subjects between the Chinese and American high schools?
